Wyong Public Update: 16/03/2020

Dear Parents,

Some changes to the operations of Wyong Public effective today 16.03.2020.

The following information is provided to support the health, safety and wellbeing of all our students. This information is accurate as of 15th March and are all precautionary measures.

We thank you for your cooperation and support at this time. Further updates will be provided when available.

Promoting good hygiene habits
• Posters promoting effective handwashing techniques will be displayed near all sinks and outside toilet facilities (copies of posters will be included in the newsletter).
Health, travel and attendance
• If your child is sick or shows any flu-like symptoms, please do not send them to school. Please advise the school and follow all current medical advice.
Currently, students (and/or parent volunteers) who are not to attend school includes anyone who has:
• Arrived from any overseas destination (effective from midnight 15/03/20) to self-isolate for 14 days
• been in or transited through China within the last 14 days;
• been in or transited through Iran within the last 14 days commencing 1 March 2020;
• been in or transited through the Republic of Korea (South Korea) commencing 5 March 2020;
• been in or transited through Italy commencing 11 March;
• been diagnosed with the COVID-19; or
• had contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection

Postponement of Activities
• A number of our major upcoming events involving larger groups of people may be cancelled. We are currently investigating alternate options and will advise of any cancellations/ variation details in the next few days. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

•There will be no K-2 Assembly today and next Monday’s 3-6 assembly will also be cancelled until further notice.

•Tomorrow evenings P and C meeting will be postponed until later in the term.

•The Easter Scripture Assembly for children has been cancelled.

•School Photos and School Cross Country will be on (Only to students and teachers). Students will be organised into smaller groups for this inter-school activity.

Teaching and Learning
• All class sizes vary from kindergarten, support classes and mainstream. We currently do not anticipate disruption to normal teaching and learning occurring within the classroom environment.

Arriving at school
•No changes. We expect all students to be at school on time before 9 am.

Playground Areas
• Due to the physical layout of our school site, students currently utilise numerous areas or zones during daily meeting, eating and playtimes reducing the actual numbers of students within any one area.

Meeting Areas
• No change as we have a range of exits to and from school as well as several bus areas where students meet.

School activities/procedures will be assessed on a daily basis and parents/carers will be updated via the Skoolbag app.
